David Beckham

David Beckham (David Robert Joseph Beckham) was born on May 2nd, 1975 and is currently 50 years old. David Beckham was born in Leytonstone, London, England.

David Beckham is a retired English association football player and an entrepreneur. He is currently the minority owner of Salford City FC and the majority owner of the Major League Soccer (MLS) team Inter Miami CF. Beckham was the highest-paid footballer in the world after his move from Manchester United to Real Madrid.

First published in 1997, Beckham: Both Feet on the Ground is a classic tale of success. Beckham is one of the most popular soccer players across the globe. He played for Manchester United FC for a decade and also helped his country to soar towards success. People loved Beckham so much that they voted for his face to be on their money.

In Japan, Beckham was famous for his fashion choices with women shaping their bikini waxes to match the mohawk he had during the World Cup season of 2002. After his transfer to Real Madrid, fans rushed to purchase his number 23 jersey with over two million requests in just a few days. His fame as a fashion icon, sex symbol, a soccer star has often been compared to that of Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.

As aforementioned, Beckham’s story is a tale of success. He was born into a poor family that lived in East London. He showed soccer talent at a younger age and with the help of his parents, he was nurtured to be one of the iconic players of his generation. Beckham would later marry Victoria (aka Posh Spice) from the Spice Girls. The two would later become one of the iconic celebrity couples in Britain.

The luxurious home spanning 240 acres and dubbed Beckingham Palace was a symbol of their status. They were followed by paparazzi and die-hard fans which made their lives a constant battle with fame.

In his memoir, Beckham explores the challenges of being a celebrity. At one point there was a kidnapping plot against his beloved wife and children in 2002. He openly shares how he balances being a father and a husband with his demanding career. Beckham also shares deeply personal stories including the redemption he felt when he scored that crucial penalty goal against Argentina after he was blamed for England's failure in the past tournament.

Beckham also addresses the dispute over his transfer to Real Madrid and his complicated relationship with the former Manchester United coach, Sir Alex Ferguson, who shaped his career. He also shares his love for America. There are lots of stories about David Beckham but he only can express his dreams, thoughts, and challenges.

Beckham: Both Feet on the Ground is a personal glimpse into his life- one that he’s managed to stay grounded despite all the fame.
