Danny Baker

Danny Baker was born on June 22nd, 1957 and is currently 67 years old. Danny Baker was born in Deptford, England.

Danny Baker is an English comedy writer, screenwriter, radio DJ, and journalist. He grew up in a working-class family, which greatly contributed to his sharp wit and unique style. Danny’s career began in 1977 when he wrote for the fanzine Sniffin’ Glue. He later secured a position at New Musical Express (NME), where he made his mark as an interviewer, reviewer, and writer.

Baker transitioned to television in 1980, presenting London Weekend Television’s Twentieth Century Box and later reporting for The Six O’Clock Show. By 1989, he was on the airwaves, hosting for BBC Radio London, and the following year, he joined the newly launched BBC Radio 5. However, his outspoken nature sometimes led to controversy, culminating in his dismissal in 1977.

During this time, Baker also wrote for TV. From 2002 to 2012, he hosted the daily morning show on BBC Radio London, where his humor and charm made him a popular broadcaster. In 2007, he started a podcast called The All-Day Breakfast Show, mixing jokes and stories with the growing digital trend. Baker wrote a three-part autobiography about his professional life. These books inspired the BBC sitcom Cradle to Grave (2015), a warm look back at his early years.

Classic Football Debates Settled Once and For All is one of the most entertaining and unconventional football books you will ever read. It is packed with facts, half-facts, and the kind of "facts" you can only find in the most radical corners of football fandom. Baker tackles everything from long-debated questions—like who is the greatest player of all time?—to more peculiar posers, such as which clubs boast the handsomest fans. Baker and Kelly leave no stone unturned, even tossing in some made-up "facts" for fun, ensuring the book never takes itself too seriously. It’s a great mix of smart insights and hilarious moments.

In 2012, Danny published Going to Sea in a Sieve, an autobiography. His career is fascinating. Born in Deptford, London, in 1957, he quickly found his way into journalism. He co-founded the fanzine Sniffin’ Glue with his friend Mark Perry, marking the start of his media journey. Danny later shifted to TV, where he worked on documentary series for LWT. Over the years, he became a familiar face on quiz shows like Win, Lose or Draw and also featured in memorable TV ads for Daz and Mars Bars, which made him a household name.

Danny Baker’s 2017 book I Will Not Kill Myself, Olivia is the story of Jimmy Wharton. On the surface, he has everything figured out, but beneath the surface, he’s battling crippling depression that makes him feel trapped. The pain becomes so intense that he begins to believe suicide is the only way out.

However, he knows that ending his life would destroy Olivia, his high school sweetheart. So, he promises her he’ll get help. In return, she vows to stand by him no matter what.

The road to recovery is far from easy. Their journey is filled with struggles, setbacks, and heartache. Just when they begin to see a glimmer of hope, Jimmy’s depression pushes him toward the brink of death. In an unexpected turn, Olivia’s life is also at risk.
