British Library Tales of the Weird series, which also features titles such as "The Platform Edge", edited by Mike Ashley, and "Weird Woods", edited by Dawn Miller.
The sub-title of "Evil Roots" is
Killer Tales of the Botanical Gothic. "Botanical Gothic" isn't one of the biggest genres out there, but if you are a fan of both gothic horror and plant horror, this is an incredible collection of stories.
Many great writers are featured in this anthology curated by Daisy.
Nathaniel Hawthorne is included, with his very eerie "Rappacini's Daughter". One of the more notable stories is by Edith Nesbit, titled "The Pavilion". This one has the female as the protagonist, which for its time was very advanced thinking.
There are fourteen stories within this collection. It also features stories such as "The Woman of the Wood" by Abraham Merritt, and of course, no collection of Botanical Gothic would be complete without "The Flowering of the Strange Orchid" by
H.G. Wells.
The anthology has received rave reviews online with the selection of stories within it.
Daisy is also the editor of "Crawling Horror", which is subtitled
Creeping Tales of the Insect Weird and is also part of the same series.
It's another incredible selection of stories, which Daisy co-edited with Janette Leaf. This collection includes "The Sphinx" by
Edgar Allen Poe, and "The Moth" by H.G. Wells.
