Craig Groeschel

Craig Groeschel was born on December 2nd, 1967 and is currently 58 years old. Craig Groeschel was born in Houston, TX, United States.

Craig Groeschel is an American author and the founder of Life.Church evangelical multi-site church with locations in 12 American states.

In his book The Christian Atheist, Groeschel addresses the different ways through which many Christians live as though they don’t believe God exists. It was in college when Groeschel was involved in a Bible study with a group of boys who believed in God, but he discovered that they knew very little about who God really was. It was in that questioning and searching that God showed up and revealed himself to them.

Groeschel argues that Christians might experience a similar scenario, and it's quite easy to lose passion for Christ as people become either part-time or full-time Christians. They don’t know about God intimately enough to prevent them from falling back into things that keep them away from wholly trusting Him.

What makes Groeschel’s book unique is the fact that it’s well laid out to deal with things that don’t define. Things like shame. It reminds people that true communication does not put them in control of their circumstances but rather keeps them close to the one who is. The book also explores what should make Christians stand out. Just as Christians wouldn’t call themselves atheists, they wouldn’t say they believe the formula that “right relationships + more stuff + perfect appearance + peaceful circumstances + thrilling experience = happiness,” but to live as they do.

Groeschel also challenges people to live a life that does not depend on those things lining up. He emphasizes that people should live a life that includes tithing, sharing their faith/story, being bold and serving others.

The author also addresses a scenario where people claim to love Christ but hate the church. He uses several short stories from his own life to also explore themes of love, shame, evangelism, prayer, and worry. His book reads like a memoir documenting his life journey from being a Christian atheist to maturity in faith.

Overall, The Christian Atheist is an eye-opening book for Christians that brings clarity and helps them see what they need to be more committed to walking in the ways God intends every day. Christians are not perfect, but should strive to be like Christ.
