Clinton Festa
Clinton Festa is an author whose works span a wide range of formats from epic drama to sketch comedy.
Festa first came into the limelight as a humor writer and cartoonist for his campus magazine. During that time, he developed a reputation for works that employed a great deal of imagination, poking fun at people and making them laugh.
He would then spread his creativity across a range of writing types, from comedy pieces and sketches to plays, showcasing his range with a voice that moved easily between the serious and the funny. Over the years, his short plays have been performed in many places across North America.
Festa usually creates stories that combine real emotions, fantasy, and myth. His stories also include big ideas on themes such as survival, journeys, family ties, and exile. His writings typically feature fully developed worlds with loyal friendships, mythical beasts, danger, politics, and talking creatures.
Aside from his plays and novels, Clinton Festa is an experimenter who has explored various formats. He has written sketch comedy that showcases his sharp and concise humor, in addition to fantasy and mythical works that convey a sense of hope, hurt, fear, courage, and wonder.
Outside of his work as a writer, Clinton Festa is involved in exploring deep questions about life, such as how myth can help people have a different perspective of the world, what strength looks like for people forced out of their homes, and what justice means.
In his debut work,
Ancient Canada, Clinton Festa tells the story of Marigold and Lavender, who are two sisters estranged from each other and exiled from home due to a gift at birth.
The two sisters need to journey to the alternative and mythological Arctic Circle, but fortunately, Lavender can see both life and death. On their epic quest, they encounter many strange beings, including a spoiled prince, a stone giant, a fugitive bog man, and a bird warrior.
The story shifts between a range of narratives, each with a distinct perspective, as the author combines hope, myth, danger, and fantasy, as the sisters attempt to find their place and stay alive.
