Death at the White Hart is a brilliant new detective story that follows one man's death and the secrets which unravel in a coastal English village.
Nothing holds a village together quite like secrets. The villagers Fleetcombe like thinking of it as one of the most picturesque spots on England’s coast. However it is now a disturbingly macabre crime scene.
A man is discovered dead, having been tied to a chair out in the middle of the road, with a stag’s antlers on his head. This gruesome scene stuns the entire town, particularly once the victim’s identified. Jim Tiernan, who ran the White Hart pub. Tiernan’s pub is right at the heart of village life and he knew everybody’s secrets.
Detective Nicola Bridge grew up in Fleetcombe and has now just returned, for the good of her family, from a life away in Liverpool. DC Harry Ward is a decade younger and, despite his newcomer status, determined to win her trust. Since they do not have too long to crack the storybook facade and learn what the folks of Fleetcombe have to hide.
Now, in the place that she believed she knew so well, Detective Nicola Bridge is asking some questions. Could she be ready for what she’s about to find?
