I came to know Cathy Glass for writing inspirational memoirs and real-life stories. In her book, Mummy Told Me Not to Tell, she tells the story of Reece, a child who has been into four different foster cares in the last four weeks. Cathy’s determined to find answers to Reece’s biting behavior but later realizes he has been sworn to keep it a secret. I was immediately pulled to the story from the beginning, and I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Recce. Nobody’s Son was also an exciting book about a boy born in prison and separated from his drug addict mother. I can’t wait to read more inspirational list of books by Cathy Glass.
Cathy is an inspiration. I started buying her books because of all the work she had done to care for and nurture abused kids in the foster system. We’ve all heard the stories. Some of these children are irreparably damaged.
If I’m being honest, I don’t think I would have persevered in any of the cases she writes about. You can’t expect any sane human being to show compassion to a stranger that threatens their biological family, no matter how young they are.
And yet, in Cathy’s actions, you see humanity’s true potential. We are all capable of that same mercy and generosity, and Cathy proves it with every child she saves.
