Catherine Bybee doesn’t bring anything new to the table. Whenever I say that to my friend, who loves her, she takes the comment as an insult. But it’s true. Bybee is the very definition of a romance author.

You can tell that she has an intimate understanding of the tropes of the genre because she can skillfully weave them into fun stories that consistently exceed my expectations. In that regard, she doesn’t bring anything new to the table. But she doesn’t have to.

Other authors have written stories like hers, but Bybee’s books are always more entertaining. Readers place too much emphasis on originality.
