I admire authors like Carola Dunn, that meander through life, almost aimlessly, before finally securing a place in the publishing industry. I have meandered through dozens of jobs for over a decade now. I am yet to secure a publishing deal.
Then again, I don’t have Daisy’s talent. I have experimented with historical romance before. But the few books I’ve read in the genre felt like they could have taken place in contemporary times. The historical setting was wasted. But with books like Death at Wentwater Court, Dunn makes you feel like you just walked into the 1920s. You cannot help but applaud her for using the vernacular of that era to make the period come to life.
