I probably have a loose screw. Caro Ramsay’s books are comfort food for me. I read them on challenging days when I need to escape, which makes no sense because her work is so bleak. I can’t explain it.

I remember reading ‘Absolution’ and being mesmerized by that scene with Alan McAlpine and the dying faceless woman. Ramsay has a way of rooting her readers in terrible moments, and I love it.

Maybe it’s because I have never encountered or experienced significant trauma. For me, every Ramsay novel is an adventure. I ordered ‘The Cursed Girls’ a few days ago, and my entire body shivered when it arrived. For me, these novels epitomize the pleasures of the reading experience.

My debut novel to read by Carol Ramsay was the Mosaic, and I liked how the author creates suspicion in the reader’s mind as the red Herrings lead me astray. In my opinion, it was an engrossing and masterful psychological thriller that kept me guessing as I flipped pages.
In the Cursed Girls novel, the Scottish island settings were excellent and gave the book a mysterious and mystical feel, especially with the mention of the faerie pools.
The gripping mystery pulled me into the story and kept me guessing throughout. Carol Ramsay brought the island settings to life so well and made me feel like I was there. She gives fine details in Anderson and Costello series, which makes it gripping and gritty
