C.J. Archer writes fantasy novels with elements of romance, which would usually put me off. But strangely enough, I don’t mind the romance in Archer’s books. I love the settings she creates.

Archer keeps throwing her characters into situations which I immediately respond to by thinking, “Do I really care about this?”

And with most authors, I wouldn’t care. In fact, Archer takes detours that would typically irritate an impatient reader like me. But her stories have an appealing flow.

Her writing is simplistic, which I like because her books are not taxing to read. She sets out to entertain and, as far as I’m concerned, she succeeds every single time.
