Belinda Bauer was born on December 24th, 1962 and is currently 60 years old.

I remember reading Belinda Bauer for the first time and daring her to impress me. Some of my friends are literary snobs, and they kept going on and on about Belinda’s book ‘Snap’ precisely because it had been longlisted for a Man Booker Prize.

I have a very low opinion of literary prizes, and I read the book out of spite to prove that it wasn’t worth all the hype. Well, I was wrong. I know I rolled my eyes a lot at the start. I kept waiting for the story to pick up steam, for all the disparate threads to connect.

But before I knew it, I was hooked. I don’t know when it happened. I just know that I couldn’t put the novel down. I read it over three days. Then I jumped to ‘Rubbernecker; then I zigged and zagged my way through the rest of Belinda’s bibliography.

I don’t know if every critically acclaimed writer is this good. All I can say is that no one else writes thrillers as riveting as this, with unique and highly engaging characters.
