Ayelet Fishbach
Fishbach attended Tel Aviv University where she received a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree, and a PhD in Psychology.
Ayelet Fishbach is a University of Chicago Distinguished Service Professor at the Booth School of Business Department of Behavioral Science and Marketing.
She is a student of consumer behavior, management, and social psychology in addition to being one of the leading experts in decision making and motivation. Given her expertise, she has been invited to present her research findings on platforms across the globe.
Ayelet Fishbach’s research has been published in a range of marketing, management, and psychology journals such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, Psychological Review, and Psychological Science, among others.
Her work has been regularly featured in leading media such as NPR, WSJ, Chicago Tribune, and CNN, in addition to being featured in Annual Years in Ideas on the New York Times.
Ayelet has also worked in the likes of Social Psychology, the Journal of Personality and Psychological Science, and several other journals as an Associate Editor. Fishbach has also been the president of the Society for the Study of Motivation and the International Social Cognition Network.
For her work, Ayelet Fishbach has won several awards, including the Fulbright Educational Foundation Award, Career Trajectory Award, and the Best Dissertation Award by the Society of Experimental Social Psychology. She is also the winner of the University of Chicago Provost Teaching Award.
In 2023, Ayelet Fishbach published the work
Get It Done, in which she examines how to set and achieve goals, drawing inspiration from behavioral science and psychology.
She explains how specific goals result in greater motivation, how setbacks are a fundamental part of learning, and how progress is more often than not invisible.
Ayelet highlights the importance of celebrating wins, small as they may be, while surrounding oneself with supportive people and resisting distractions. Fishbach also teaches her readers how to stay focused despite having multiple goals.
She combines practical advice with science to show how intention can be made into action, even when one is running low on motivation.
