Arthur Hailey was a British-Canadian bestselling author of mystery and thriller books. He became a full-time author in 1956 after working multiple jobs and writing part-time. He relocated to California following the success of his book Hotel in 1965 and later permanently moved to the Bahamas in 1969.

Each of Hailey’s books features a different commercial or industrial setting and includes dramatic human conflict and carefully researched information on how each environment and system functions and affects society.

In Airport, an airplane gets caught up in a snowstorm at the airport, which causes runaway blockage. Then another airplane experiences a midair crisis as a man with a bomb threatens to blow it up.
