Anand Giridharadas

Anand Giridharadas was born on September 27th, 1981 and is currently 45 years old. Anand Giridharadas was born in Shaker Heights, OH, USA. Giridharadas attended the University of Michigan where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also attended Harvard University.

Anand Giridharadas is known for writing in the Non-Fiction genre.

Anand Giridharadas is best known as an American political pundit, author, and journalist who used to write for The New York Times.

He was brought up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Paris, France, and in Maryland, though he travelled to India from time to time to visit members of his extended family. It was from these visits that he developed an interest in India, and this would have a significant influence on his later works.

As an adult, Anand Giridharadas worked in Mumbai for McKinsey & Company, the global management consulting firm, where his father once was a director. In 2005, he began working for The New York Times and the International Herald Tribune as a journalist.

He moved back to the US in 2009, where he wrote the Current Column for the International Herald Tribune and The New York Times. In 2020, he wrote an opinion piece on how Biden could make transformational progress that was published in the New York Times.

Giridharadas is also an Aspen Institute Henry Crown Fellow, a New York University visiting scholar, and a commentator at MSNBC. He has also been the host of Vice on TV’s Table with Anand Giridharadas and writes for The. Ink newsletter.

In India Calling, which he published in 2010, Anand Giridharadas shares insights into his journey to India, the country of his parents.
He arrived in India at a time when the country was dealing with massive changes and was witness to how it birthed new ideas while still refusing to let go of old ones.

Drawing from diverse groups of people, from rebels to business leaders, families, and workers, he showcases how dreams and traditions mix. He looks at how relationships, families, and the concept of being Indian continue to evolve.

In Winner Take All, Anand Giridharadas wrote a nonfiction work about how and why powerful and rich people are always saying they are the ones to fix world problems, even though all they want is to stay on top.

He examines how the wealthy use their money for good causes, even as they entrench systems that leave others behind and make them rich. They are also the proponents of fixes such as win-win, which are ineffective at solving inequality.

Anand believes that true change is a product of public effort and strict democratic rules rather than just the rich giving back.

In 2020, Anand Giridharadas published The Persuaders as an examination of the idea of winning others over through persuasion.

He also examines how people have now come to prefer a culture of fighting, shaming, and canceling others rather than trying to persuade them.

He follows organizers, activists, parents, politicians, and even former extremists who are working to bridge divides. Their stories imply that there is nothing better at healing a deeply broken and polarized society than coalition building, patience, and persuasion.
