In ‘Andi Unexpected,’ Amanda Flowers delivers a story of a young girl who’s a detective dealing with pain while trying to solve a great mystery. The series can be read by middle school children and adults who like children’s books like me. I love how Amanda brings in a new set of fascinating and easy to follow characters to lead in her books. ‘Assaulted Caramel’ was a great start to the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. It has a wide range of characters with all types of personalities. The book is a great balance of romance, humor, and mystery. I liked the steady plot pace and twists that kept me hooked.
I never understood why I loved the cozy mystery genre until I discovered Amanda. The characters in her cozy mysteries are so happy. Don’t get me wrong. Their lives are not perfect. But I wouldn’t hesitate to switch places with Violet Waverly.
First of all, Amanda blessed her with a goofy but relatable personality. Secondly, she works in a bookstore. Thirdly, the bookstore in question is magic. Also, they are surrounded by a bevy of quirky neighbors.
Amanda doesn’t neglect the mysteries. She gives us plenty of clues and suspects before finally revealing the culprit. Her books are a decent mental workout. But I read them primarily because of the characters and their charming community.
